The Village Collective Hub, located in the heart of South Auckland - Manukau, is an integral part of the Youth One Stop Shop (YOSS) model. This model provides accessible, youth-centered, holistic services, including health, mental health, and social support, all under one roof. Our Hub offers a safe, culturally grounded environment where talavou from all backgrounds - including Maori, Pasifika, disabled, rainbow, and gender-diverse youth - can congregate, engage, and building meaningful connections.
Key Features of the Hub include:
- Pataka Kai (Community Pantry): A free panty offering home essentials to anyone in need, supported by Foodstuffs North Island. This initiative aligns with the Pataka Kai movement, which fosters community sharing and support without judgement.
- Community & Tech Space: Areas to connect, work, or hire laptops if you don't have your own device, ensuring access to technology for all.
- Talanoa Room: A small group meeting and gathering space for open conversations and community building.
- 1:1 Rooms - Nafanua, Toko, Alofa: Private consultation and talanoa spaces for personal support and guidance.
- Free Wifi: Across the entire building to support learning, work, and connection.
The Hub is more than just a physical space; it is a platform for learning, growth, and community-led initiatives that strengthen wellbeing, build skills, and nurture meaningful connections. By providing a 'third space' - a place outside of home and school - young people have the opportunity to relax, reflect, and recharge in a supportive environment.
